In order to determine which ones were the unfortunate towns that could be considered for this ranking, it was taken into account the information from the Census data from the 2010-2014 American Community Survey.
After looking and analyzing the specific data in the following aspects: Poverty level, unemployment rates and median household income, it was possible to rank the 15 poorest cities in all of Florida.
15. University CDP (Hillsborough County)
Poverty Level: 42.8%
Unemployment Rate: 17.6%
University is located in Hillsborough County. The town is often referred to as “Suitcase City” due to the high rate of transients. And sadly there’s nothing better to offer to the locals. The per capita income for the community is $13,417. About 24.8% of families and 31.3% of the population are below the poverty line.
